capsule wardrobe

i love the idea of capsule wardrobe where you have really classic pieces which you can mix with trend pieces from each season and when i read this post (find here) and having loved the idea, 21 items to get you through your twenties, i thought i would share with you what i would describe as my capsule wardrobe.

okay first of all clothing...

i live in jeans and skinny jeans have to be my favourite style as i can wear them tucked into boots easily and i think they look great with ballet flats. i really like a darker denim but am also currently loving coloured jeans. blazers add a bit more of a tailored to any outfit, i love throwing one on over over a simple t-shirt or a dress with tights for a date. cardigans are probably what most of my wardrobe consists of, they are great for adding colour or print to an outfit, plus are really comfy and can be layered really easily. striped t-shirts are always featured somewhere on the runway and are definitely my favourite print. when the sun finally makes an appearance i love wearing sundresses. they are so feminine and easy to wear just add your favourite pair of sunglasses and you're ready to go. the little black dress has to be the one thing most women would say they have in their wardrobe and is probably my favourite pick out of this list as they will be so different from woman to woman. i love lbd's with lace detailing, it makes me feel so girlie and dressed up.

next up is a classic coat, for me it has to be a trench coat, i live in my nude coloured one form american eagle and right now i am loving the style but with heavier materials for winter. but for this one any look goes, whether its a peacoat or duffle,  a good coat can last ages and just move from season to season. another regular that comes out of my wardrobe is a maxi skirt. sometimes its nice just to throw something on and know it will look good. for me its maxi skirts, i love them in summer with sandals and in winter layered with jumpers, tights and boots. this next one may be thought of by some as a trend piece but i think its moved into the classic section because of how long its been around and how much you can do with it. chambray shirts are a nice balance between dressed up and dressed down. the material adds a casual edge to an outfit but can also dress another up because of the shirt look. the final item for this section has to be the ultimate classic, a good leather jacket. this is probably the one item i would spend a lot of money on because as long as you take care of it will literally last years,  plus after some wear the leather will be so supple it will be one of the comfiest things to wear.

next is shoes. some people may say that for a capsule wardrobe 5 pairs is excessive but i am a shoe girl at heart so there was bound to be quite a few pairs. i love ballet flats and wear them as much as i can before it gets too cold. a simple black high heel should be in every girls wardrobe, so easy to dress up jeans or pair with your favourite dress. the same goes for boots, personally i love knee high boots and at the moment i am loving a gorgeous deep brown pair i got my hands on. converse are an everyday shoe, i alway wear these for work, perfect for running after the kids in. finally a simple pair on sandals or flip flops, can you tell i love my comfy shoes lol.

hope you liked this little insight into my favourite classic pieces for a wardrobe, after writing this post i feel a bit of a sort out coming on for my wardrobe lol.
